What is Reiki Healing?
..for when you are you feeling unbalanced, sluggish or blocked.
Reiki is a non-invasive complementary therapy that has been taught and used in the UK since the late 1900s, but Eastern medicine has, for thousands of years, worked with this energy, recognising its flow through all living things.
Reiki supports orthodox medicine and is widely used in the NHS, and it can be used alone, but is not a replacement for traditional medication or treatments. It is not based on any belief, faith or suggestion, yet, scientific research into quantum physics is starting to help us to understand how Reiki healing may work with Energies to benefit the individual.

(Traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho System)
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing, and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low or out of balance, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy). Reiki is a type of energy healing.
Energy healing targets the energy fields around the body, which can stagnate where there has been physical injury or emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.
Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure.
Reiki has been around for thousands of years. Its current form was first developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist called Dr Mikao Usui, and I practice his traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho Healing, with its over 80 individual hand placement sets, targeting specific issues or ailments, and to whom my training and practice lineage traces back.
Whilst traditional Usui Reiki has an unspecified amount of time, I also practice the Western variation, which follows the Chakra system and can be accommodated into specific time-bound sessions (see below).
